Carla's first trek to Cedar Bog
New Year’s Eve Walk to Cedar Bog: Neighbor Carla, Crazy Dog Zoe, and I hiked a 3.25 mile round trip to Cedar Bog today. I was feeling a wee bit guilty as Kasha had to stay home. She gave me such a forlorn look as I left without her, poor old doggie. It was a gorgeous afternoon for a hike as the temp. was 26F and a light snow was falling. We left home at 1:45 pm and arrived back at the dock at 4:15 pm. There was no one in the woods but us, and we had a real feeling of adventure. Cedar Bog is such a pretty water body, and the ice was frozen enough to walk on, but it was so incredibly slick (like glass) that even our Yak Trax had trouble giving us enough grip. The upshot of this was that we couldn’t venture very far out. We’ll have to wait until there is more snow cover to give us better traction in a few weeks.
